    STICKY - LS1 Vs F20C WEIGHT DIFFERENCE

So as this topic is always one of those areas that no one ever actually knows the answer i thought i would weigh the 2 engines before installing my LS1.

They are both in the same level of build (Engine, Gearbox, Headers, All Ancillaries)

So the F20C first. As the photo shows this weights 227KG on the scales but 18KG of that was the pallet so 209KG

The LS1 weighed 302.5KG and take of the 18KG is 284.5KG

This makes a difference of 75.5KG between the 2 engines which is obviously less than the weight of a normal passenger.

I would have to say that most of the weight difference is in the gearbox and flywheel area itself which is fine seeing how it sits in the middle of the car and low as well.

Probably going to be an even swap for me since I've got the Vortech S/C kit on my F22 with air/water/air intercooler. Except the weight will be shifted back toward the center of the car

Here is a shot of Xyster's car on corner scales from late last year. This is with A/C compressor installed (no lines), a full tank of gas and a kagillion pounds of Bondo under the hood.

That's a pretty big weight difference. Thanks for sharing the results.
