Default TomH5475's Build Discussion

I just found this Forum and if I can figure out how to post pics I will produce what I consider a over-the-top install of LS-7 in S-2000

Now that's a sad comment, it's funny how people hiding in there basements all over the world can talk shit. There are a lot of things I my be, you little fu<k but, a phony isn't one of them. I have a video (short but sweet) that my mechanic sent to me, as I'm in Iraq as I write to you. I was hoping on sharing a few pics, maybe a little insight, (not build it for you), a sound bite and a video on the dyno. What gives you the right to take a shot at my integrity, because I didn't feel obligated to spill my guts on my second post. You just might stumble across photo's of my car on another site one day (I haven't posted on the S2K site in a couple of years), but I will tell you two things and I suggest you take it to the bank young man, (1) the pics will not be on this site and (2) they are untouched other than me blanking out my license plate name and number. I tell you what I will do for you though (clean up the drool on your face) I will throw in a pic of the F-22 I took out to install the LS-7, it will be for sale soon.

As much as I would love to banter and slam your hopeless ass.......I will refrain, when I calm down I will be proud of myself........what a little fu<k you are.

I would like to know where the steering shaft is and the belt for the waterpump and does the LS7 not use a drysump oil system so where is it located, and the engine is so close to the radiator where is the fan?

eat shit poser just because you come on here and act like your shit dont stink and your car that YOUR MACHANIC BUILT is the only one out there. I asked you a simple question about your steering rack and you responded with a dumb answer and then tried to say my car did not exist because i asked you a question about yours and i dont hide i am sitting on my couch in atlanta ga so just keep your happy little ass over in Iraq and keep thinking to yourself that you have the 1 and only baddest V8 powered S2000 out there while the rest of us keep on enloying building ours and getting the chance to drive them

Sorry to Thomas for the rant on your site.

Woah woah woah, everyone calm down a bit. The dude is serving in Iraq, show some respect.

We're going with innocent until proven guilty here. If you can prove the images are fake, go for it. Until then, play nice. I understand you'd like some more technical details, but be civil about it.

And there's nothing wrong with someone having a car built for them. It isn't for everyone, but it's certainly not a reason to put the person down.

Thanks for the fair shake Brent.
My intent was not to flame anyone nor, was it my objective to just spill my guts all over this Forum on the first date. I have many thoughts, conversations, money, research, attempts, failures and luck involved in this car, most of all, an exceedingly accomplished wrench. My point is, I owe you nothing and at the same time I have no problem helping.........you put me down for using a mechanic and at the same time I (or somebody) is suppose to answer your questions to solve your problems, seems to me ya might as well hire a wrench. That kid is a moron and I'm not even sure if the U.S.M.C. can teach him any manners, dignity, or respect.

respect is earned, not given away freely. I will attempt to be civil. Good God people, I'm sorry my car is done, I have pics while it was under the knife, in all phases, would you rather see them????

I would like to apologize to the rest of the forum the pictures might be real they might not maybe we will never know. This is to tomh5475 i asked you a simple polite question if you did not know the answer to you could have easily said so but you then wanted me to prove to you that i had moved my steering rack forward on my swap by asking for proof of my build, that my friend is where you lost my respect. There have been several different ways to move the steering rack and to me your car looked like it was done very nicely so i thought you might have a different approach on it or some insite that is why I asked how yours was done. Not to find out how to do mine since mine is already done. So if we got off to the wrong foot i apologize but like you stated above respect is earned, not given. So maybe next time some one asks for an answer that you might not have an answer to, say so and dont ask them for proof of their build.

Yours truely,
THE KID

sounds good, but why was the drive by wire removed to put in a throttle cable on a LS7?

sorry about the quality of these vids, they were put together for me here in Iraq shortly after the install. Jason, your second set of questions were civil, dry-sump location, fan space, water pump belt......your first question was demanding on steering location.

We discussed the fly by wire throttle cable and I was given a logical reason for not going that route, this discussion took place late spring of last year and I do not recall.

Fan(s) on the outside of the radiator and you can see the dry-sump in the engine bay pic.

Default fans

notice fan location, as far as the dry-sump goes...you see the top half, as you should know there is not room for the sump, we cut it in two pieces, built a top and a bottom, you can see one half, the rest is down below almost in the fender. Yes, we still have full capacity plus a oil cooler (just because we had it with the turbo set-up)

Hello, just thought I would throw in here. I am the builder of the ls7 s2k that belongs to tomh5475. The questions asked so far are all valid and expected questions. No top secret stuff here just alot of work. The motor was supplied to us from Turn Key in So Cal. They are using the marine Delphi mefi and are performing the swap to cable as to make the engine package as universal as possible, ie. sand rail, street rod, boats, etc. The fact that the car has a wide body allows for a 2 piece dry sump tank. Half in the bay, half in the inner fender connected by a 2" cross-over and 6 an vent. The lower subframe was modified and now has a reciever channel on either side that uses a cast aluminum sub frame connector. The steering rack was a real pain. I used a piece of 2" chromoly tubing with gussets and relocated. We lost about 3-4% of our turning radius and gained some less than desirable bump angle on the tie rods however we havent noticed any increase in bump steer but we also havent had the car flat out on a road course yet. But at a hard pace on back roads it is very crisp and hasnt lost its s2k. The down pipes were also a challenge but came out very nice along with the rest of the exh system. The rad fans are now out in front to allow for the steering rack to be kept as far back as possible. The trans is from 06 GTO. We machined the output shaft and welded the s2k flange in place and are using the factory drive shaft and rear end for now, but we will be changing that soon to convert, possibly catera. I found hot rod mags install of ls7 into solstice very helpfull, you may want to check it out. On a personal note, Tom has been an excellent customer and friend to me and much time and money was spent along the way as Im sure all of you can relate to. I hope this answers some questions and I can assure you that the pics are real. I dont have photo shop but if it works that good I shoulda used that and skipped the swap, kidding. If you have other questions, and I can help, I will. Sorry for the long post, I tried to keep it short.

Thanks j, sorry to get you involved in this, it was obvious to me that I had zero credability on this Forum and doubt still remained even after the YouTube vids. All I did was supply the money for photo shop. If they only had walked in our shoe's to understand the route we took to get here. I did throw in a pic of the F-22 that we built prior to making the swap to the LS-7 but, by that time, my credability was in the shitter.

Thank you for the post. I love all the new ideas and directions people are using to do the swap. It is at this stage a very new swap and the more facts we as car nuts get the more this swap will flourish. Yes there was bad judgement in comments made so let's just move on past it.

Have you guys driven the car for long periods any impressions of it?

Thanks and you're right, No, not for long periods, the LS-7 is just now past break-in. Understand, 2,000 miles on the car I went with a Vortech Super Charger, kept that for again about 2,000 miles, that's when I got hooked up with jlc and went the turbo route. We went completely through the motor, suspension, clutch, etc.etc. We Dyno'd the F-22 W/28 lbs boost and C-16 @ 590 RWHP. Much more fun to drive now with the LS-7.

As you all know, the "S" is well balanced and has a certain amount of "fun factor" from the factory....... I swear to you it handles better now than it has at any time, including new. The balance at present is 49.9 front and 51.1 rear and also feels as though the CG's are lower now than before. The increased rubber contact patch generated (hence the wide-body kit) was, in my mind, critical for the handling characteristics gained.

Thank you kind sir,

Power steering, speedo, tach, (that was a bone of contention) and gauges are stock. The A/C has not been hooked back up, however, I'm still hoping to do that. I will find a pic of the guage pod that my mechanic built, we had planned on the typical trio door post guage but felt that it would block vision and was counter productive.

Thanks again,
Tom
